PostHeaderIcon Introduction to EVA Airlines

EVA airlines are part of the Evergreen Group, founded in March 1989, and its maiden flight took off on July 1st 1991. It operates out of Taipei in Taiwan, and serves destinations in Europe, Asia and North America.

It has a fleet of Boeing 777s and Airbuses and prides itself on its records for safety and for being punctual and getting passengers to their destinations on time. Their safety record is impressive and the German “Aero International Magazine” has listed EVA in its top 10 airlines.

It is one of the airlines that do not offer First Class services, but it does have Business class cabins and this is the Premium Laurel Class (it uses the links to the Evergreen group liberally). There is also a Premium Economy class which is the Elite class, and economy.

As you would expect from a Taiwanese airline, EVA is equipped with the latest entertainment technologies as well as others and there is some choice of entertainment although not as much as on some other carriers.

EVA are currently offering spring deals on flights to Taipei from Amsterdam (prices start at under 700 euros) and on flights from Paris to Bangkok and Taipei. There are also deals on North American flights, and it is always worth keeping an eye on the latest offers on EVA’s official website. You can book online between 3 and 24 hours before departure and at the check-in kiosks and get a 15% discount on duty free goods.

EVA airlines serve a high quality cuisine on their flights and cater for international tastes as well as having very good Taiwanese specialties. The airline prides itself on its high standards in terms of products and services, although it can be irritating to Westerners when they are told with a smile that there is nothing that can be done to assist them in their request (such as a change of seats on an almost empty aircraft) because of flight rules and regulations. There can be cultural misunderstandings and travelers from the West need to realize the nature of Taiwanese culture when traveling on one of these flights.

However, that is a minor inconvenience when you consider the comfort of the seats in the cabins which have been ergonomically designed for the comfort of passengers on the latest aircraft. There is a little more legroom and more comfortable seats in economy classes as the new acquisitions boast the latest seating designs.

If you are thinking of traveling in or to Asia then EVA airlines is worth your consideration despite it not being extremely well-known in the West. Their website is easily accessible and easy on the eye, so check it out before booking a flight to Asia.
